Sean Reynolds Joins The Game Mechanics!
May 25th, 2006 - The Game Mechanics are pleased to announce that fan favorite game designer Sean Reynolds has joined the ranks of The Game Mechanics. Known for his work on Forgotten Realms for Wizards of the Coast and The New Argonauts for his own company (Sean K Reynolds Games), Sean brings years of game design experience to the Mechanics' already formidable team.
"We've worked with Sean - and been friends with him - for years," said JD Wiker, president of The Game Mechanics. "So it seemed only natural to ask him to work with us again."
"When JD called me and asked if I was interested," said Sean, "I told him it seemed like a great idea. So, naturally, I said yes."
Sean will be acting as an additional in-house designer for The Game Mechanics. "Sean is both prolific and talented," said Stan!, TGM vice-president. "We're going to have him do what he's been doing for Sean K Reynolds Games already: designing innovative game products, and writing insightful web articles."
Sean will continue to run Sean K Reynolds Games, which will remain a separate business from The Game Mechanics. "This is not a merger, or an acquisition," said JD Wiker. "The Game Mechanics and Sean K Reynolds Games are both strong companies in their own rights and there's no need to combine them. We are simply pooling our talents."
About The Game Mechanics
The Game Mechanics is a company dedicated to creating d20 gaming material that is as good as you've come to expect from the industry leaders. Founders JD Wiker, Rich Redman, and Stan! have a combined 23 years of experience working full-time in the hobby games industry (22 of those years working on the Dungeons & Dragons RPG for Wizards of the Coast). The idea for the company sprang from conversations held in the wake of a series of corporate layoffs, and the three designers, together with former Wizards of the Coast web manager, Marc Schmalz, knew the time was right to pool their combined knowledge and skills.
The Game Mechanics use their experience and expertise to create and publish products whose quality meets the stringent standards set by Wizards of the Coast and other top publishers. Our designers' names can already be found on the covers and throughout the credits of many of the current top selling roleplaying products - and you can expect to see the same level of quality and attention to detail in every release from The Game Mechanics.
About Sean K Reynolds
A gamer since 1980, Sean K Reynolds has worked in the tabletop RPG industry since 1995, and as a professional game designer since 1998. His work includes the development of 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons and the 3E relaunches of the Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms campaign settings. Sean left Wizards of the Coast in 2002 and joined the computer game industry, working on fantasy and post-apocalyptic RPGs and a martial arts action game. After eighteen months working on computer games, he left that job and decided to found his own small game company using his extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the d20 System and experience working with large and small publishers. Sean K Reynolds Games was founded in October 2004.
